Overview

The trip starts and ends in Nairobi. With the Hiking & Trekking tour 6 Days Mount Kenya Hike- Naromoru Chogoria Route Down, you have a 6 days tour package taking you through Nairobi, Kenya and 4 other destinations in Kenya.
This type of hike is recommended to people with extra days and would like to spend them hiking and site seeing, it is also child friendly.

Day 1 :

Nairobi – Mt Kenya

Depart Nairobi in the morning and driving through central Kenya to arrive at Naromoru in time for lunch, later dinner and overnight in a hotel. Afternoon walk will be recommended for acclimatization where you visit the MauMau cave or villages around.

Day 2 :

Naromoru gate-Met Station (2440-3050m) aprox 4 Hours

After breakfast, drive to Naromoru Park Gate and after checking in, start hiking to through the forest to Met Station. The hiking takes about 4 hrs. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3 :

Mackinders Camp (3050- 4200m) aprox 6-7 Hours

Depart Met Station after breakfast and proceed to the moorland where our guide will help you to identify various high altitude flowers and vegetation and up the Teleki Valley arriving Mackinders Camp early evening. Picnic lunch enroute. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 4 :

Austrian Camp (4200-4790m) aprox 3 Hours

After breakfast ascending along a steep screw to Austrian Hut. Covering this distance takes about 3 hrs. for lunch, dinner and overnight.

Day 5 :

Point Lenana – Chogoria (4790-4985-3000m) aprox 10-12 Hours

Departing at 5:30 am, proceed through Lewis Glacier to Point Lenana(4985m) arriving approx. 6:30 am in the morning. After the sunrise, descend down to Mintos Hut for full breakfast. Later descend along the famous Gorges Valley to Chogoria Bandas /campsite. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6 :

Chogoria – Nairobi

After breakfast, set on morning journey to chogoria (32 km). You will hike for 2 – 3 hour and then our vehicle will pick you for a transfer off the mountain, climbers have to walk some distance or the car can pick you up at the bandas. From Chogoria transport is provided back to Nairobi, arriving late afternoon.
