7 Days Mount Kenya Technical Climb Chogoria, pick up from your hotel and drive from Nairobi through central Kenya and proceed towards Embu passing Rice, tea, coffee and other agricultural farming zones with a nice view of Mt. Kenya in clear weather. You will have a brief stopover at the Chogoria town for lunch and pick the other team of the cook and porters plus food supplies before proceeding to the mountain.
Drive for another 1 hour after passing the first park gate drop off point in the forest 2,650m. After packing your mountain equipment, you will start the hike through the forest accompanied by your guides, cook and porters to Chogoria gate for dinner and overnight in a campsite 2,950m. ( 3 hrs walk).

Today you will wake up at 06.00 am to pack and prepare for the trek. At 6.30 am, you settle for breakfast, after which you leave. Start the hike through the Heather viewing high altitude flowers, animals and birds to the roadhead where you visit the water falls.
After lunch, proceed to Lake Ellis campsite 3,450 for dinner and overnight. There is a good view of the peaks in the evening if the weather gets clear.

Option: Hike direct to the campsite for lunch and hike up the Mugi hill in the afternoon for the acclimatization and the views from the top.

You will wake up again at 06.30 am to pack and prepare for the trek. At 7.00 am, you settle for breakfast, and then leave the camp with your packed lunch.
Start the hike through the moorland viewing higher attitude flowers, Hyrax and other animals and birds species as well as the views of the attractive Gorge’s valley as far as the main Peaks at the head to arrive at Mintos campsite 4,200m in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight. ( 5-6hs).

Wake up at around 7.00 am for breakfast and at around 9.00 am you start the hike to Austrian Hut with a gentle hike in the beginning before the climb gets steeper, walking along loose scree which sometimes of the year is covered with snow to reach the Austrian hut 4,790m. in the afternoon for lunch, dinner and overnight. (4-5 hrs.)

Today is acclimatization day. You climb up to the top of Lenana Peak 4,985m. ( 1 hr) the third peak in Mt. Kenya to catch the sunrise and after a superb view from the summit as far as Mt. Kilimanjaro to the south, descend back to the Austrian hut 4,790m. for a relaxing rest of the day and prepare for the final climb to the highest peak of mount Kenya and the second highest point in Africa.

Leave Austrian’s hut at 5.00am walking across the Lewis glacier and then up a steep stony scree to arrive at the base of Nelion. After preparation, start the technical climb at around 6:00 am, taking about 6 hrs. to the top of Nelion Peak 5,188m for a short rest at Howell hut.
Start descending down the Gate of Mist and cross to continue the climb up to the Mount Kenya Summit the Batian Peak 5,199m. After a successful climb to the top, climb down via Howell hut and proceed further down back to the Austrian hut for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will start to descend down the Naromoru route via Mackinders’s camp 4,200m. and then continue with the hike down the moorland to Met Station 3,050m. (5-6 hrs) where you connect a transfer vehicle and drive off the mountain to Naromoru town where you will drop the crew members then you proceed back to Nairobi.
