Mount Elgon climbing Kenya/ 5 days mount Elgon hiking
The clients will drive to Kitale and then proceed to Mt. Elgon Chorlim Park gate 2,142m. for overnight at the campsite.
After breakfast, you meet with our mountain crews in the morning and after clearing with park formalities, you will start the 14 km. hike through the forest passing the Elephants Platform (Endebess Bluff 2,563m) for picnic lunch and later proceed via Saito dam to Mutamaiyo campsite 2,950m. for dinner and overnight in tents. (5-6 hrs. walk)
After breakfast, continue with the hike up to the moorland with picnic lunch served on the way to the road head campsite for dinner and overnight in tents. 6-7 hrs.
Today you will be woken up at around 4.30 am and prepare for the final ascent. After a cup of hot tea and some snacks, you start an early morning ascent for (4 km) to the summit of Koitobos peak 4,220m. On your way up at about 06.15am you will have an opportunity to see the sun rise and at an altitude of about 4,000m we will have a steep walk up for about 220m to get to the Top (3 hrs). After a superb view from the top if the weather allows, descend back to the campsite (2-3 hrs) for lunch and later you will break the camp then hike down to Mutamaiyu campsite for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you start the walk down and visit the Kitum caves on the way to the gate where you will take transport back to Nairobi or next destination ending your Mount Elgon climbing Kenya hike.
